Which Type Of Paracord Is Right For You?

Tuesday , 10, May 2022 Comments Off on Which Type Of Paracord Is Right For You?

The Paracord is one of the most useful items to carry on an outdoor adventure, as its strength-to-weight ratio is hard to beat. Roll up the clothesline. Tie up rain flies. Elevate your food supply in the trees to protect them from the creatures. Replace damaged shoelaces.

The list of uses for paracord (short for parachute cord) is almost endless. You’ll find all kinds available, but how do you separate the good stuff from the cheap imitations?  You can browse this website to buy the top-qaulity mil spec paracord at a very affordable price.

Buy braided:  The beauty of paracord is that it is much more flexible (and about three times stronger) than standard nylon cord, but make no mistake. Cheap imitations on the market by some unscrupulous sellers who may look like paracord but are not.

If the cable you’re seeing doesn’t consist of several strands of nylon braided, make a slit. The fine American line consists of a high quality nylon outer sheath and 7 inner nylon braided threads made of two inner threads.

Go to Type III / 550: Nicknamed Type III/550, the cable means the cable is made of 7 strands of nylon braided and is rated at 550 pounds without breaking. Types II and I have fewer locks and are not highly rated for weight capacity.

The Type IV is heavier (at £750) but more expensive, so the Type III/550 strikes the perfect balance between price and utility. Remember to always stay under the minimum weight and never use a paracord to climb.

Do military specifications matter?

Paracord, that’s right, military specification grade consists of 7 to 9 nylon strands, each consisting of 3 nylon strands. However, not all military specifications of paracord are created equal. Many offshore brands use inferior materials and may lack quality control. To be safe, stick with the American made brand and you will end up buying a better quality cable.
